Elgato Wave Go is a new wireless microphone designed to move between a shirt-mounted recording setup and a handheld interview. Announced on October 13th, the $99.99 system gives phone-based creators one transmitter and receiver for two different ways of capturing a voice.

According to CORSAIR’s announcement, the small transmitter attaches magnetically to clothing or slots into the included Smart Handle. The system changes its sound profile to suit the position. The company lists automatic gain control, noise cancellation and other processing intended to reduce the amount of adjustment needed while recording.

The battery headline needs context. Elgato advertises up to eight hours from the transmitter alone and up to 48 hours of total runtime with recharging from the Smart Handle. That is not a promise of 48 uninterrupted hours from the tiny clip-on unit. These are manufacturer figures, not results from a PowerPage hands-on test.

The official product page lists a USB-C receiver for compatible phones and computers. Audio travels over a dedicated 2.4 GHz connection; Bluetooth is used for the optional companion app. Older iPhones with Lightning ports are not supported, and the system is not designed to connect directly to DSLR or mirrorless cameras.

Another important limitation is that Wave Go does not record an onboard backup. The audio goes to the connected phone or computer, so creators should confirm their recording application is capturing it before an interview begins. The current product page also lists the iOS app as under Apple review, despite the launch announcement describing app availability. The microphone can operate without the app.

For artist interviews, short videos and mobile podcast segments, the appeal is the ability to switch recording styles without assembling two separate systems. The package includes a carrying case, magnetic mounts and windscreens; a second transmitter is sold separately. Check the current specifications and device requirements before purchasing. Sound quality in a noisy venue still needs to be judged through actual use, rather than a product announcement alone.
