Joe Burrow carries the ball into the end zone for Cincinnati’s overtime touchdown against Tennessee.

Joe Burrow’s arm kept Cincinnati in the game, and his legs supplied the decisive touchdown. The Bengals beat the Tennessee Titans 43–36 in overtime Sunday, November 1st, at Paycor Stadium, improving to 5–2 after a contest that required one final defensive stop.

The teams entered overtime tied at 36. Cincinnati took the opening possession 70 yards in five plays, with Burrow scoring on a nine-yard scramble. Tennessee still had a possession to answer. The Bengals forced a turnover on downs, completing the victory rather than ending the game at the touchdown.

Big numbers, costly mistakes

The Bengals’ official recap credited Burrow with 462 passing yards, five passing touchdowns and three interceptions on 38 completions in 48 attempts. His production and turnovers were both central to an afternoon that stayed close despite Cincinnati’s explosive passing game.

Tee Higgins caught 10 passes for 155 yards and two touchdowns. Ja’Marr Chase added 11 catches, 141 yards and a score. Higgins’ second touchdown came on an 18-yard pass that helped bring Cincinnati level late in regulation, while Burrow’s five touchdown passes matched his career high.

Tennessee generated plenty of offense of its own. Cam Ward passed for a career-best 304 yards and two touchdowns, and Tony Pollard rushed 21 times for 117 yards and two scores. Those performances kept the Titans in position to challenge until their final possession stalled.

Defense supplies the last answer

Cincinnati’s defense also produced important scoring opportunities before overtime. A Boye Mafe strip-sack and Dexter Lawrence II recovery set up a 17-yard touchdown pass to Higgins. Lawrence and Demetrius Knight Jr. later combined to tackle Pollard in the end zone for a safety.

The Bengals next face Atlanta in Madrid in Week 9, according to the team. For Baltimore readers following the division through PowerPage Sports, Cincinnati’s result adds another AFC North win on an afternoon when the Ravens lost in Buffalo. The Bengals survived the shootout because their defense ultimately delivered the stop their offense needed.
