Bears Beat Seahawks, 34–17, as Jeffery Simmons Makes an Immediate Impact

Jeffery Simmons needed little time to make his presence felt in Chicago. The newly acquired defensive tackle recorded six tackles, two tackles for loss, a sack, and a pass breakup in the Bears’ 34–17 win at Seattle on Monday, November 2.
The Bears’ account of Simmons’ debut described a fast turnaround from his trade out of Tennessee. Five days after the deal, he was helping a defense that held Seattle scoreless on eight of its 11 drives. Simmons had completed his physical Thursday and worked into the evening as he prepared for his first game with Chicago.
He also reunited with former Mississippi State teammate Montez Sweat. Chicago finished with three sacks, and the performance gave the Bears an immediate return from a major addition to their defensive front. Simmons received a game ball in the locker room afterward, a visible acknowledgment of his first contribution.
Chicago’s game recap showed how the offense helped turn that defensive work into a third consecutive victory. Caleb Williams completed 24 of 34 passes for 247 yards and a touchdown, and D’Andre Swift scored three rushing touchdowns. The Bears improved to 6–2; Seattle fell to 4–4.
The game was still in reach for Seattle early in the fourth quarter. A seven-yard touchdown reception by Cooper Kupp and a successful two-point conversion cut Chicago’s lead to 20–17 after a Bears fumble.
Chicago answered with a crucial 39-yard completion to Kalif Raymond on third-and-nine. Swift finished that possession with a five-yard touchdown run with 8:28 remaining. James Lynch then intercepted a pass deflected by Austin Booker, setting up another five-yard Swift touchdown with 4:41 left.
Those late sequences supplied separation after Seattle had threatened a comeback. Chicago returns home to face Tampa Bay on Sunday, with Simmons now part of a defense that helped close a difficult road assignment. Follow PowerPage Sports for more NFL coverage.
