Tyla is taking her new era around the world—and the Baltimore–Washington region is part of the itinerary.
Artist presales opened Wednesday for The APOP World Tour*, Tyla’s first full global headlining tour. The South African singer will perform at The Anthem in Washington, D.C., on Wednesday, December 2, at 7:30 p.m.
The artist and VIP presales run through Thursday evening. An additional venue presale begins Thursday at 10 a.m., followed by the general public sale Friday, July 31, at 10 a.m. ET. The Washington event currently carries a four-ticket purchase limit.
The tour supports Tyla’s second album, APOP*, released July 24. The project continues her mix of amapiano, pop and R&B while positioning her as one of the most visible artists in African popular music.
Her global schedule begins in Europe before moving through North America and eventually reaching Lagos, Cape Town and Johannesburg. The Washington date gives regional fans a relatively intimate alternative to the larger arenas included on other portions of the tour.
Tyla’s rise demonstrates how African music continues to reshape international pop without abandoning its regional identity. Her ability to connect amapiano rhythms with R&B and polished pop production has helped expand the audience for South African music well beyond its original market.
