Spider-Man: Brand New Day has officially moved past Avengers: Endgame in the North American record book.
Sony Pictures said Monday that the film earned $360 million from theaters in the United States and Canada during its opening weekend. That total passed the $357 million benchmark set by Endgame in 2019.
The record was not secure when the first estimates arrived. Sunday attendance finished stronger than projected, lifting Brand New Day above its initial $355 million estimate and turning an enormous debut into the biggest North American opening weekend on record.
The fourth Tom Holland-led Spider-Man film also earned $932 million worldwide in its first weekend, placing it behind Endgame globally but far ahead of nearly every other release in film history. Its success helped push the overall North American box office to a record weekend and offered fresh evidence that audiences will still show up at scale when a franchise event feels culturally unavoidable.
For Hollywood, the larger story is not only superhero demand. The film opened while Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey remained a major draw, giving theaters more than one event picture at the same time. That kind of overlap creates momentum for cinemas rather than forcing the market to depend on a single release.
The immediate headline belongs to Spider-Man: $360 million in North America, a stronger-than-expected Sunday and a record that had stood for seven years.
The final Monday totals were reported by The Associated Press and attributed to Sony Pictures.
