Michael B. Jordan is expanding his position behind the camera while stepping into one of cinema’s best-known gentleman-thief roles.
Amazon MGM Studios released the first teaser for Jordan’s reimagining of The Thomas Crown Affair on Wednesday. Jordan directs, produces and stars as the title character in the romantic heist thriller, which is scheduled to open in theaters worldwide on March 5, 2027.
The film also stars Adria Arjona, Kenneth Branagh, Lily Gladstone, Danai Gurira and Pilou Asbæk. Grammy-winning musician Jon Batiste composed the original score.
Jordan’s involvement makes the project more than another acting vehicle. It continues the filmmaker’s evolution after his directorial work on Creed III, placing him in charge of a large-scale production built around international locations, intricate heists, romance and high-end visual style.
The story reintroduces Thomas Crown as a wealthy, calculating figure capable of navigating elite spaces while carrying out carefully planned thefts. Arjona plays the investigator pulled into Crown’s orbit, creating the familiar cat-and-mouse dynamic at the center of earlier versions.
Jordan’s interpretation arrives after the 1968 film starring Steve McQueen and Faye Dunaway and the popular 1999 remake led by Pierce Brosnan and Rene Russo. The new production has an opportunity to update the character’s motivations while preserving the franchise’s combination of danger, intelligence and sophistication.
