Brewers Win First World Series as Championship Artifacts Head to Cooperstown

The Milwaukee Brewers are World Series champions for the first time. Milwaukee defeated the Tampa Bay Rays 4–1 in Game 5 on Wednesday, October 28th, 2026, closing out the series and giving the franchise its long-awaited championship. By Thursday, the Baseball Hall of Fame had announced plans to preserve pieces of the title run.
According to the Associated Press game report, Jacob Misiorowski delivered 5⅔ scoreless innings in the clincher, while Cooper Pratt supplied two hits and two RBIs. The victory at Tropicana Field completed the Brewers’ five-game series win and turned their October run into a permanent milestone for Milwaukee baseball.
William Contreras earned World Series MVP honors. The Associated Press reported that the catcher hit .381 in the series and became the eighth catcher to win the award. His performance adds another name to a list that includes Baltimore’s Rick Dempsey, the 1983 winner, providing an Orioles connection to this year’s national baseball moment.
The Hall of Fame’s October 29th announcement shifts attention from the celebration to what will survive it. Contreras donated his chest protector and shin guards, and manager Pat Murphy contributed a World Series hoodie. Pratt’s bat from Games 4 and 5 is also headed to Cooperstown after a stretch in which he recorded six consecutive hits.
Other additions include Christian Yelich’s Game 4 road jersey and Misiorowski’s Game 5 cap. The objects offer distinct views of the same championship: the catcher’s equipment, the manager’s clothing and the tools used by players whose contributions helped finish the series.
The donations will join the museum’s Autumn Glory exhibit, which is scheduled to remain on display through the 2027 postseason. An opening date for the updated 2026 display has not yet been announced; the museum says that information will follow in the coming weeks. Fans planning a visit should wait for that confirmation before assuming the new artifacts are already on view.
For the Brewers, the result is settled. The next chapter is how the championship is remembered, from Milwaukee’s celebration to the equipment preserved in Cooperstown. The clincher followed Tampa Bay’s Game 4 walk-off, covered in PowerPage’s previous World Series report.
