Apple September 2026 Event: iPhone Duo, New Pro iPhones, Watches, and AirPods
Apple’s September 2026 event put a folding iPhone at the center of a wider refresh of its phones, watches, and earbuds. iPhone Duo: the foldable arrives in October
According to Apple’s iPhone Duo announcement, the $1,999 starting configuration has 256GB of storage, with 512GB, 1TB, and 2TB options. Star white and night sky are the two finishes. U.S. preorders open October 16 at 8 a.m. Eastern, and availability begins October 23. It ships with iOS 27.1.
The outer display measures 5.4 inches; opening the phone reveals a 7.6-inch inner display. Both support ProMotion and Always On. The inner screen uses a matte nano-texture surface to reduce reflections and the visibility of the fold. Authentication uses Touch ID in the side button. Duo is eSIM-only worldwide, making carrier compatibility worth checking before purchase.
A20 Pro powers Split View for two apps side by side. The rear system combines 48MP main and ultrawide cameras; the outside screen can show subjects their framing or serve as a selfie preview. Apple Pencil USB-C support is promised later this year. The new Duo Case costs $79, while the Folio with Kickstand costs $129; both become available to order October 16.
For viewers and creators, the interesting change is the larger working surface: a video, a second app, and camera previews can use the folding layout in ways a conventional phone cannot. iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max: camera control and battery life
Apple’s Pro iPhone announcement lists the 6.3-inch Pro from $1,199 and the 6.9-inch Pro Max from $1,299, each starting at 256GB, with capacities up to 2TB. Both come in burgundy, glacier, silver, and black. U.S. preorders begin September 12 at 8 a.m. Eastern, ahead of September 18 availability.
Their 48MP main camera gains a variable aperture, letting the camera change how much light enters and how much of a scene stays in focus. New Pro controls expose settings including shutter speed and white balance. A20 Pro and revised cooling support the camera and computing upgrades. Apple’s Pro product page also describes Audio Mix improvements that can separate music and voices from background noise in recorded video.
Apple rates the U.S. eSIM-only versions for up to 36 hours of video playback on Pro and 45 hours on Pro Max. These are controlled-test figures, not a promise of that many hours of mixed daily use. Accessories include $49 silicone and clear cases, a $59 TechWoven case, a $29 Wrist Strap, and a $59 Crossbody Strap.
AirPods 5: noise cancellation at both prices
The AirPods 5 announcement introduces a $129 model and a $149 version with Wireless Charging Case. Both include active noise cancellation, Adaptive Audio, and Conversation Awareness. Orders opened September 9, with store availability September 18. Apple says the new acoustic design removes up to 50 percent more external noise than AirPods 4 with ANC; fit and surroundings can affect the listening experience.
The $149 configuration adds volume adjustment by swiping the stem and supports Apple Watch chargers, Qi chargers, and USB-C. Apple rates it for up to five hours of listening with ANC, or 22 hours with the case. Full features require current Apple software. Live Translation additionally depends on compatible hardware, firmware, Apple Intelligence, and supported languages and regions; it should not be assumed to work with every paired phone.
Apple Watch Series 12: more frequent sensing
The Series 12 announcement puts the starting price at $399, with preorders open September 9 and stores receiving it September 18. Apple’s Series 12 product page lists 42mm and 46mm cases in aluminum, titanium, or ceramic; premium materials and cellular configurations cost more than the entry model. Ceramic finishes are pearl white and night blue.
A new Health Sensing System and S11 chip enable background heart-rate measurements every five seconds and heart-rate variability readings as often as every five minutes. A readiness score draws on activity, sleep, and vitals to help users assess their day. Apple’s claim of leading heart-rate accuracy comes from an Apple-conducted study, rather than independent testing by this publication.
Apple rates Series 12 for up to 24 hours of normal use or 38 hours in Low Power Mode. Pairing requires iPhone 11 or later with iOS 27. Those minimum requirements do not unlock every AI feature: some require a newer, Apple Intelligence-capable iPhone. Wellness insights should not be confused with a medical diagnosis.
Apple Watch Ultra 4: longer outdoor tracking
Apple’s Ultra 4 announcement sets a $799 starting price, September 9 preorders, and September 18 availability. Natural and black titanium versions share the new sensing system and S11 chip. Apple advertises up to 50 hours of everyday battery life, or 84 hours in Low Power Mode, plus faster charging.
For outdoor activity, Apple quotes up to 25 hours in Extended Workout and 45 hours in Max Extended Workout. The latter uses Low Power Mode and turns off alerts and splits, with some metrics unavailable. That limitation matters when comparing endurance claims. Satellite features have separate connectivity and carrier conditions, including a two-year included period for eligible activation.
The accessories refresh includes new Trail Loop and Alpine Loop colors and translucent Ocean Bands. Apple also announced Hermès Ultra 4 and a Grand H titanium band with an extension mechanism designed to fit over a wetsuit. The standard Ultra starting price should not be read as the price of the Hermès collection.
Software and health features have their own schedule
Apple’s health and fitness announcement says the redesigned Health app arrives later this year, initially in U.S. English, on compatible Apple Intelligence-enabled iPhones and iPads. Insights and Longevity sections organize personal data; Health Age uses Apple Watch metrics. Apple also plans a $119 lab-testing purchase option covering more than 50 biomarkers through approximately 2,000 U.S. Quest Diagnostics locations. It is a future offering, not a service available today through the new app.
iOS 27 and watchOS 27 begin arriving September 14, while Siri AI rolls out in beta. Live Rewind and Siri Recap are later-2026 beta features for Series 12 and Ultra 4, requiring an Apple Intelligence-enabled iPhone 16 or later, excluding iPhone 16e. Language, regional, and usage limits apply. Buyers should match the feature they want to its specific hardware and release requirements rather than assume every demonstration is ready on day one.
