The Toy Story 5 Digital Release arrives on August 18, 2026, moving Disney and Pixar’s latest adventure from theaters into at-home purchase and rental. The film is available through digital retailers including Prime Video, Apple TV, and Fandango at Home.
A physical release follows on September 22, 2026, across 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray, Blu-ray, and DVD. The home package extends the movie with behind-the-scenes features, commentary, a gag reel, and deleted scenes, giving families more than a simple transfer of the theatrical presentation.
The story reunites Woody, Buzz Lightyear, Jessie, and the rest of Bonnie’s toys as they face Lilypad, a tablet with her own ideas about what children need. Disney describes the conflict as “Toy meets Tech,” using the arrival of a screen-based playmate to challenge the place of traditional toys in Bonnie’s life.
Andrew Stanton directed the film and co-wrote it with co-director Kenna Harris. Tom Hanks, Tim Allen, and Joan Cusack return as Woody, Buzz, and Jessie, while Greta Lee voices Lilypad. Randy Newman returns with a new score, continuing a musical connection that reaches back to the franchise’s beginning.
The digital extras include production material focused on the returning toys, the recording process, and the creation of a major Buzz Lightyear sequence. Five deleted scenes also show how the filmmakers tested alternate paths before settling on the final story. Those additions make the release useful for viewers interested in animation craft as well as the movie itself.
The official trailer remains the clearest preview of the film’s tone and technology-versus-toys setup. Viewers should distinguish this digital purchase-and-rental window from a subscription-streaming debut; an August 18 Disney+ launch was not part of the verified release information used for this article.
