The Lanterns HBO premiere has arrived with Aaron Pierre’s John Stewart at the center of a new kind of DC television story. Rather than opening as a galaxy-spanning space opera, the series pairs Stewart with veteran Lantern Hal Jordan, played by Kyle Chandler, for an Earthbound investigation shaped like a crime drama.
The series premiered August 16 at 9 p.m. Eastern on HBO and HBO Max. Deadline’s release guide confirms an eight-episode season with new installments arriving weekly on Sundays. That schedule gives the central mystery time to build instead of dropping the entire story at once.
