Seahawks–Broncos Preview: Denver’s Home Streak Meets Seattle’s Top Defense

The Denver Broncos host the Seattle Seahawks on Thursday, October 15th, with both teams at 3–2 and a demanding early-season test waiting at Empower Field at Mile High. Kickoff is 8:15 p.m. ET, and the national broadcast is on Prime Video.

Nix faces a defense that takes the ball away

Denver’s official preview of Bo Nix’s preparations identifies Seattle as the league leader in total defense, passing defense, and takeaways. That combination makes possession security a central storyline: an offense cannot judge Thursday only by whether it moves the ball, but also by whether it finishes drives without giving the opponent extra chances.

Nix’s stated emphasis this week was on simplifying his approach and playing faster. Denver has won three of its past four games, yet the quarterback acknowledged room for cleaner execution. The Broncos’ account also notes 15 wins in their last 16 home games, a strong backdrop for another prime-time opportunity.

Denver’s defense has its own assignment

The Broncos’ viewing guide highlights the other side of the matchup. Denver produced a season-high three takeaways against the Chargers and now faces Sam Darnold and Jaxon Smith-Njigba, the league’s receiving-yards leader. The defending Super Bowl champions therefore bring more than a defensive challenge.

Denver remains unbeaten at home this season at 2–0. Courtland Sutton and J.K. Dobbins each scored their first touchdown of the season in the comeback win over Los Angeles. Repeating that finishing work would help keep Thursday from becoming a game in which Nix must manufacture every answer on his own.

How to follow Thursday night

Prime Video carries the game nationally, with Al Michaels, Kirk Herbstreit, and Kaylee Hartung on the broadcast team. The listed Denver-market television outlet is Denver7. Viewers elsewhere should check the official game guide for local availability rather than assume the local broadcast applies nationwide.

For the previous prime-time result, our Bills–Rams overtime recap covers Buffalo’s 37–34 escape. Seattle–Denver opens the next week with a different question: which 3–2 team can turn a difficult matchup into another win?
