Buffalo survived a fumble, a last-second touchdown and an overtime scare to beat the Los Angeles Rams 37–34 at SoFi Stadium on Monday, October 12th. Tyler Bass’s 45-yard field goal ended the night, lifting the Bills to 4–1 while the Rams fell to 2–3.

A blocked kick changes overtime

Buffalo’s official recap describes an extra period that nearly slipped away. Khalil Shakir’s 57-yard reception put the Bills at the Rams’ 22-yard line, but James Cook fumbled on the next play. Los Angeles then worked into field-goal range with a chance to finish the game.

Greg Rousseau kept Buffalo alive by blocking Harrison Mevis’s 48-yard attempt. Josh Allen subsequently used his legs to help position Bass for the winning kick. The sequence made special teams decisive after both offenses had spent the night finding ways to score.

Los Angeles forces one more possession

The Rams’ account of the game details the late regulation answer. Cook’s five-yard touchdown had given Buffalo a 34–27 lead with 1:39 remaining. Los Angeles drove back down the field, and Kyren Williams scored from a yard out with five seconds left to send the contest to overtime.

Matthew Stafford finished 40 of 54 for 383 yards and three touchdowns. Puka Nacua caught 17 passes for 138 yards and a score, giving the Rams a repeatedly available target throughout the game. That production carried Los Angeles to the edge of a comeback win, but the overtime field-goal block denied the final step.

Buffalo wins on the ground

Allen ran for 121 yards and a touchdown on 10 attempts. Cook added 111 yards and two rushing scores on 25 carries. Their combined 232 rushing yards gave Buffalo an answer when the game required sustained offense and late improvisation.

The finish still leaves mistakes to address: the Bills were charged with 13 penalties for 112 yards and committed two turnovers. They next visit Las Vegas on October 18th.
