Monday’s music coverage returned to a question that reaches beyond any release calendar: who gets to shape the sound? PowerPage Nightcap for October 12th brings together Young Guru’s views on creative technology, Bertell’s account of artistic ownership and Waah Dean’s memories of artist development. Their perspectives connect the choices made in a studio to the careers built around them.

Young Guru draws a distinction between tools that assist a musician and systems that take over creative decisions. In his recent AllHipHop interview, the engineer explains his opposition to creative AI while discussing the importance of passing knowledge to younger artists. Our Young Guru feature places that conversation alongside his teaching work. The central issue is judgment: understanding what a song needs before deciding which tool to use.

Bertell brings that question into his own career. His latest SHEEN interview describes ownership as the freedom to tell his story honestly and choose how his music develops. Live guitar and traditional R&B storytelling sit alongside room for other influences. Our Bertell report follows those priorities and the direct relationship he is building with listeners. His ambitions for future performances and partnerships remain goals, rather than newly announced agreements.

Waah Dean looks back at the effort required before a movement finds a broad audience. In today’s AllHipHop conversation, the Ruff Ryders co-founder recalls mentorship, belief and the work of taking an emerging artist beyond familiar territory. Our Waah Dean report adds historical context to those recollections. The account gives artist development a practical meaning: finding stages, making introductions and staying involved while a career takes shape.

These are different kinds of control. One concerns the creative decisions inside a recording. Another concerns an artist’s ability to set a direction. The third concerns the support that helps talent reach people. Together, they offer a fuller picture of the music business than a release announcement alone can provide.

Close the evening with the full conversations behind Young Guru, Bertell and Waah Dean’s stories. Then move into tonight’s separate Grown & Sexy Slow Jams selection, where ten recordings from 2010–2015 offer another reminder of what careful performances and distinctive voices can leave behind.
