Nottingham Giant Food Will Close After 50 Years

A longtime Baltimore County grocery store is preparing to close its doors.

Giant Food has confirmed that its location at 7920–30 Belair Road in Nottingham will end operations on August 6 after approximately 50 years in the community.

The company said the closure followed its regular evaluation of business conditions and local trade areas. Giant believes nearby locations, grocery delivery and its pickup services can continue serving customers in the surrounding area.

Employees at the Nottingham store are being offered opportunities to transfer to other Giant locations. Pharmacy customers will receive notifications about prescription transfers to the nearest Giant pharmacy based on their home address, although customers may select a different Giant location.

The closure is especially significant for residents who have relied on the store for decades. While Giant points to other shopping options, changes in grocery access can create added challenges for seniors, residents without vehicles and families already balancing transportation and food costs.

The Nottingham announcement follows other Giant closures across the Baltimore region. The company closed its Edmondson Village location in 2024, while its former store near New Town High School has remained vacant since 2019.

No replacement retailer has been announced for the Belair Road property.
