Maryland Heads to No. 5 Ohio State Looking to Stop a Three-Game Slide

Maryland’s next opportunity to change its season comes against one of the country’s highest-ranked teams. The Terps visit No. 5 Ohio State on Saturday, October 10th, with kickoff set for 4:15 p.m. at Ohio Stadium. Big Ten Network will televise the game, with radio coverage on the Maryland Sports Radio Network.
According to Maryland’s official preview, the Terps arrive at 2–3 overall and 0–2 in the Big Ten. Ohio State is 4–1 and 2–0. It is the schools’ first meeting since 2023 and Maryland’s sixth trip to Columbus, a setting that makes this a substantial test of how the Terps respond to recent setbacks.
A difficult stretch meets another challenge
Maryland’s season results show three consecutive losses after wins over Hampton and UConn. The Terps fell 35–26 to Virginia Tech, 54–3 to UCLA and 48–23 at Nebraska. That sequence puts the immediate focus on producing a more competitive performance across a full game, rather than on treating one promising individual stat line as evidence that the problems are solved.
There were offensive contributions to build on at Nebraska. Receiver Chris Durr Jr. had seven catches for a career-high 149 yards, while DeJuan Williams returned with 78 rushing yards and a touchdown on 10 carries. Quarterback Malik Washington has 1,288 passing yards entering this week, according to the school’s preview.
What to watch on Saturday
For Maryland, the useful measure is whether those individual gains can become sustained possessions while the defense reduces the damage that has defined the last two results. A productive drive matters more when it is followed by a stop. Against a ranked opponent on the road, the Terps need complementary stretches rather than isolated highlights.
The kickoff time also gives Maryland fans a clear viewing plan: Saturday afternoon on BTN before the team returns to College Park for its October 17th Homecoming matchup with Rutgers. PowerPage’s earlier Homecoming coverage explains that separate home date. This week’s task comes first, and it is a demanding one in Columbus.
