Global Citizen Festival Is Canceled: What Ticket Holders Need to Know

The Global Citizen Festival scheduled for September 26th in New York’s Central Park has been canceled. The organizer says an extreme-weather forecast made it unsafe to bring the audience, artists and production operation onto the Great Lawn, following consultation with the City of New York and NYC Parks.

This replaces the plans described in PowerPage’s earlier lineup coverage. Alicia Keys & Friends and Victoria Monét had been announced as additions to a bill that also included Ms. Lauryn Hill & Wyclef Jean, John Legend, Lenny Kravitz and other performers. That announcement now serves as background to a canceled event, not a reason to travel to the park.

According to the organizer’s cancellation notice and ticketing FAQ, Ticketmaster refunds require no action and should return to the original payment method within 14–21 days. If a ticket was transferred to someone else, the refund goes to the original purchaser. People who bought through another seller should contact that point of purchase for its process.

Global Citizen also says it will return the points used in ticket draws that resulted in claimed tickets, although account updates may take a few days. Its notice addresses refunds for donation-linked tickets as well. Ticket holders should read the organizer’s email and the FAQ for the instructions that match how they obtained admission.

For Baltimore-area fans who arranged a New York trip, keep ticket records and any transfer confirmations together. Concert admission, transportation and lodging are separate bookings: the festival’s ticket refund instructions should not be treated as a promise that a hotel or travel provider will refund its charges. Check those reservations directly before making changes.

Global Citizen says food intended for the festival will go to local organizations and that it plans to return to Central Park next year. No replacement concert date is listed in the notice. Until the organizer announces new plans, use its current festival page for updates rather than older lineup graphics or previously shared event links.
