Mike Colter Turns a Silicon Valley Betrayal Into a CBS Legal Fight in “Cupertino”

Mike Colter leads Cupertino as an attorney who learns that building a company does not guarantee a place in its future. The new CBS legal drama premieres Thursday, October 8, at 10 p.m. ET/PT, then streams through Paramount+. Its central case begins when Silicon Valley turns a co-founder into an outsider.

Colter plays Michael Price, a lawyer cheated out of stock options and fired by the technology company he helped create. Instead of accepting the loss, he joins Olivia Siffre, played by Rachel Keller, to build a firm for workers and founders who believe the tech elite used contracts, money and influence against them.

The premise gives the courtroom drama a timely pressure point. Stock options can look like future security until the fine print, a termination or a funding decision changes who owns the value. Mike Colter leads Cupertino from the position of someone who understands the system and still gets crushed by it, turning personal betrayal into a wider fight over workplace power.

Robert and Michelle King created the series after building legal and moral puzzles through “The Good Wife,” “The Good Fight,” “Elsbeth” and “Evil.” “Cupertino” reunites the Kings with Colter after “Evil,” but trades supernatural danger for boardrooms, compensation agreements and the quiet aggression of corporate law.

The ensemble includes Keller, Renée Elise Goldsberry, Ella Stiller, Nik Dodani and Busy Philipps. Goldsberry plays attorney Nichole E. Ferebee, an opposing lawyer whose history with Michael adds another layer to the conflict. The official teaser shows Michael absorbing the shock of his firing before the underdog firm begins to take shape.

PowerPage's preview of “The Varnell Hill Show” follows another Paramount+ title using a familiar Black television presence to open a new chapter. “Cupertino” takes the dramatic route.
