More than $60,000 in BCPS foundation grants will support school and office projects during the 2026–27 school year, the Education Foundation of Baltimore County Public Schools announced November 2. The fall awards cover four programs, bringing resources to classroom initiatives, field trips and construction education.

The recipients include projects with a direct connection to student creativity and hands-on learning. The BCPS Film Expo, Pleasant Plains Elementary’s Panther News Network, Dulaney High’s FIRST Robotics Competition Team 1727 REX and Windsor Mill Middle’s Engineering Innovation Lab are among the instructional-grant selections.

Four programs, different needs

The awards combine 21st Century Instructional Initiative grants, the ABC Construction Pathway Grant, the new Friedman Field Trip Grant and First Financial Federal Credit Union’s Putting Students First grants. Carver Center’s plumbing upgrade is the construction-program recipient. Field-trip selections include a Maryland State House visit for Baltimore County student councils and several Camden Yards STEM experiences.

The foundation’s full recipient list identifies the schools, project names and coordinators. The announcement concerns selected 2026–27 recipients, rather than a new application window for families.

Resources beyond the regular budget

The foundation’s grant-program guide explains that instructional grants support projects outside regular school and office budgets, tied to identified needs and school-system goals. Putting Students First similarly helps with supplies, resources and experiences that support educational readiness. Friedman field-trip grants offer up to $1,000 per application to enrich regular curricula.

That structure gives educators a way to pursue specific ideas without treating every need as the same kind of expense. A student production, a hands-on science experience and a trip outside the classroom call for different resources; the separate programs provide distinct routes to that support.

The foundation also operates educator resource centers and offers scholarships and fiscal sponsorship for educational projects. Readers can learn more through the foundation’s website and follow PowerPage’s Power Beat coverage for local education and community news.
