Yung Miami Says “Spend Dat” Changed How She Finished Her Solo Debut

Yung Miami says the success of “Spend Dat” sent her back into the studio with a clearer sense of direction—and more pressure to get her debut solo album right. In a Yung Miami Billboard interview published November 4, the rapper told host Tetris Kelly that the breakthrough changed how she approached Watch Dis.
“Just seeing the success of ‘Spend Dat,’ it gave me anxiety; I’m not gonna lie,” she told Billboard. Her account offers a look at the work behind a hit: the confidence it can create, and the expectations that follow when an artist has to sustain that connection across an album.
A hit that changed the process
According to Billboard’s accompanying report, “Spend Dat” became her first top-20 Billboard Hot 100 hit this summer. Watch Dis followed on October 23 and entered the Billboard 200 at No. 138. Those milestones frame the interview, but her central point is about revision rather than a victory lap.
She explained that she already had songs in progress before “Spend Dat.” Its reception helped her recognize a direction and prompted another round of work. She identified “2008,” “F You” and her Bryson Tiller collaboration as recordings that came afterward.
Building the collaborations
Miami singled out Summer Walker and Tiller as collaborations she particularly valued. She described her longstanding admiration for Walker’s records and Tiller’s voice and approach to communicating with women. The project also includes appearances from G Herbo, Travis Scott, Quavo and Rick Ross, Billboard reported.
The broader Billboard News conversation covers her brand, “Dear JT,” touring ambitions and Caresha Please. These are her descriptions of what she is building; the interview’s discussion of future touring is not a confirmed local concert announcement.
