Ye’s Soldier Field Homecoming Brings Future, Big Sean, Twista, and 2 Chainz to Chicago

Ye’s Soldier Field homecoming opened Thursday night with a guest list built around rap history and hometown meaning. Future, Big Sean, Twista, and 2 Chainz joined Ye during the first of two scheduled Chicago concerts, giving the stadium run an immediate sense of occasion before tonight’s second show.

Pitchfork reports that the September 3 performance was Ye’s first hometown concert since 2021. Big Sean and 2 Chainz brought a direct connection to the G.O.O.D. Music era, while Future represented one of the most influential collaborators of Ye’s later catalog. Twista’s appearance carried a different weight: the Chicago veteran is woven into the city’s rap identity and appeared on early Ye records including “Slow Jamz.”

The lineup made night one more than a tour stop with surprise cameos. It placed several chapters of Ye’s career on the same stage, from his Chicago roots and label-building years to records that helped shape modern arena rap. For an artist whose recent public activity has often produced as much argument as music, the show’s strongest story was the catalog and the artists connected to it.

A second Soldier Field concert is scheduled for Friday, September 4. The venue lists parking lots opening at 4 p.m., gates at 6 p.m., and the concert at 8 p.m. Its clear-bag policy limits approved bags to clear plastic, vinyl, or PVC no larger than 12 by 6 by 12 inches, with small non-clear bags capped at 4.5 by 6.5 inches.

No official announcement promises that Thursday’s guests will return tonight, so any repeated or expanded lineup should remain an open question until it happens. What is confirmed is a second Ye performance at Soldier Field and a first night that leaned into Chicago’s place in his story.
