Woodshed Fest Is Building a Baltimore Festival From the Local Music Scene Outward

Baltimore’s local music scene does not need to wait for a national touring festival to recognize that it can support an event of its own.

Woodshed Fest takes place Sunday, July 26, from noon until 9 p.m. at the Baltimore Museum of Industry. The all-ages event features Pressing Strings, Super City, Sweet Leda, Enslow, Noah Pierre Band, Wicked Sycamore and a finale led by Ricky Wise.

The lineup reflects the purpose of the festival.

It is not importing a major celebrity and surrounding that performer with local opening acts. The Baltimore and Maryland music community is the primary attraction.

That structure creates value beyond one day of performances.

Local festivals give bands opportunities to share audiences. A listener arriving for one group may discover several others, strengthening the possibility that future club shows attract larger and more connected crowds.
