The Perfect Lie Arrives on Netflix With Seven Episodes of Dinner-Club Secrets
The Perfect Lie is now streaming on Netflix, bringing seven episodes of Dutch drama to the September 10 watchlist. Based on Saskia Noort’s novel “The Dinner Club,” the series follows a group of friends whose comfortable lives begin to unravel after a deadly house fire. Netflix’s current title page lists the complete season.
At the center is Karen, who moves to Bergen with her family and becomes part of a dinner club. The social circle offers friendship and an inviting lifestyle, but a fire at a villa kills her friend Evert while his wife and children narrowly survive. Karen starts looking for answers as the group’s relationships grow harder to trust.
The premise makes this a mystery about intimacy as much as an investigation: what do these couples know about one another, and what have they chosen to overlook? Netflix describes four couples questioning their friendships after the fire. The official trailer introduces that uneasy world without requiring viewers to know the book before starting the series.
Loes Haverkort, Teun Luijkx, and Rifka Lodeizen lead the title page’s cast listing. The ensemble also includes Remko Vrijdag, Noortje Herlaar, Edwin Jonker, Matthijs van de Sande Bakhuyzen, and Charlie-Chan Dagelet. Dorien Goertzen created the series and served as head writer, with Jop Esmeijer co-writing. Dana Nechushtan and Margien Rogaar directed the Fiction Valley production.
For viewing plans, the first six episodes run between 47 and 52 minutes, while the finale runs 62 minutes. Netflix labels the series TV-MA and places it among book adaptations, dramas, and thrillers. The U.S. listing offers the original Dutch audio alongside English audio and English audio description, with English subtitles also available.
