Tank’s “Yes” Gives Him a Record 12th No. 1 on Adult R&B Airplay
Tank has reached a new benchmark at adult R&B radio. “Yes” rises from No. 2 to No. 1 on Billboard’s Adult R&B Airplay chart, giving him his 12th leader and the most No. 1s by a male artist on that chart, according to Rated R&B’s October 14th report.
The milestone breaks his tie with Charlie Wilson, who has 11 leaders. Alicia Keys remains ahead of all artists with 14. The distinction belongs specifically to Adult R&B Airplay; it should not be confused with the all-genre Hot 100 or a ranking based solely on streams.
The Source also reported the achievement and noted that “Yes” interpolates Floetry’s “Say Yes.” The song appears on Tank’s EXPERIENCE album, released through R&B Money/BMG. This story follows the single’s radio progress rather than presenting the album as a new release today.
Rated R&B identifies “Yes” as the album’s second Adult R&B Airplay leader, following “Control,” which reached No. 1 in March. Its list of Tank’s chart-toppers begins with “Please Don’t Go” in 2007 and includes “Next Breath,” “When We” and “I Deserve.” The new result adds to a run spanning different phases of his career.
Radio has been a consequential part of that story. In a 2023 Associated Press interview, Tank described “When We” as his biggest record; the report noted its No. 1 finish on Billboard’s 2018 year-end adult R&B airplay chart. That earlier success provides context for the latest milestone without making every chart achievement interchangeable.
Listen to Tank’s official “Yes” audio above. For fans who know the Floetry original, the track offers a familiar musical connection alongside a new performance. The record worth noting today is the radio result: an established singer has extended his lead within a format that continues to give adult R&B a dedicated home.
