Baltimore’s “Soul at Sunset” Opens Tonight at Rash Field Park

Baltimore’s waterfront gets a new soundtrack tonight. “Soul at Sunset,” a free September concert series presented by Black Assets as part of Baltimore By Baltimore Unplugged, begins Thursday, September 3, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Rash Field Park.

The opening program is titled “I’ve Got a Message” and features Black Assets, Grayson Moon and Teddy. The Waterfront Partnership of Baltimore describes the lineup as genre-defying, moving through rock, R&B, pop, blues and jazz instead of treating soul as one fixed sound. That range makes the event more than a routine outdoor set: it is a showcase for how Baltimore artists stretch a familiar genre without losing its emotional center.

Rash Field Park is located at 201 Key Highway, beside the Inner Harbor. Organizers invite guests to bring a blanket or chair and say the evening will include local vendors, food and drinks for purchase, plus the park’s newer amenities. The family-friendly setup gives listeners room to arrive for one artist, stay for another and experience the waterfront as a neighborhood music space rather than only a downtown landmark.

Black Assets is both the presenter and the series’ through line. The Baltimore artist’s work connects storytelling with a blend of soul, bounce and other Black musical traditions. Each Thursday in September adds a different theme and guest lineup, allowing the series to build an argument over four weeks: soul can change shape while still carrying community, vulnerability and purpose.

Tonight’s artists lead that conversation. Grayson Moon and Teddy join Black Assets for an opening installment centered on message and expression. The official event artwork places Moon against the Baltimore waterfront, a fitting image for a series designed to bring local performers and public space into the same frame.

The remaining dates are September 10, 17 and 24, also from 6 to 8 p.m. Later programs are scheduled to feature C.Jai, Steven, Tyler Moonlight, Sing Steph, Davonne D’Neil and Bobbi Rush alongside Black Assets. Because those lineups change weekly, tonight is the beginning of a monthlong residency, not a repeatable copy of one bill.
