Baltimore City Public Schools is preparing a week of bullying-prevention activities for October 12th through October 15th, giving students and families a specific opportunity to discuss safety, inclusion and how to ask for help.

The district’s October 1st announcement places the week within National Bullying Prevention Month. Schools will receive a toolkit of awareness and prevention activities designed to support respectful learning environments and encourage empathy and kindness across school communities.

City Schools’ Unity Day is Wednesday, October 14th. The district encourages students, staff, families and community partners to wear orange and blue that day. Families should look to their own schools for details about how the week’s activities will be organized locally.

The announcement also includes reading suggestions for different ages, from elementary picture books to middle- and high-school selections, along with resources for educators. Those materials offer ways to keep the conversation going beyond a single awareness day.

For anyone dealing with a concern now, the district’s reporting guidance explains that students, parents, staff members and other witnesses can report an alleged incident. Reports can be submitted online, and downloadable forms are available in English and Spanish. Concerns can also be raised with a teacher, counselor, principal or another school staff member.

The district says a principal or designee must investigate within two school days, with parents expecting information about a resolution within two further school days. Families dissatisfied with the investigation or resolution can contact the CEO Ombudsman at 443-984-2020.

The guidance covers online bullying as well as incidents in person. Families do not need to wait for the awareness week to raise a concern or use the reporting process.
