Rod Wave has another No. 1 album. “Don’t Look Down” opens atop the Billboard 200 dated September 12, giving the Florida singer-rapper his fourth leader on the all-genre chart and extending one of contemporary hip-hop’s most dependable album runs.

The 24-track project earned 99,000 equivalent album units in the United States during the tracking week ending September 3, according to Luminate data reported by Billboard. Streaming supplied most of that total: 90,000 streaming-equivalent units, representing 95.07 million on-demand official streams. Traditional album sales added 9,000 units.

That balance matters. Rod Wave’s appeal has never depended on one crossover single or a short viral window. His listeners move through full projects, returning to the emotional detail, gospel-shaped melody and plainspoken tension that connect his rap records to Southern soul. A nearly 100,000-unit opening built overwhelmingly on streams shows that the album itself remains the event.

The scale is even clearer inside the week’s chart race. “Don’t Look Down” arrived ahead of a field that included high-profile catalog titles and current pop releases, without requiring a large physical-sales package to build its lead. The result comes from listeners pressing play across a long track list and staying with the project deep enough for those plays to accumulate.

“Don’t Look Down” follows “SoulFly,” “Beautiful Mind” and “Nostalgia” as Rod Wave’s Billboard 200 chart-toppers. His 2024 album “Last Lap” reached No. 2, so the new debut restores him to the summit while confirming that the two-year gap between studio albums did not cool the audience.

The release also arrives with a larger visual and touring plan. Alamo Records and Sony Music introduced the album with the official “Mainstay” video featuring Luv Von, continuing the short-film world established by “Piece of Your Love.” The song’s escape narrative places Rod’s melodic storytelling inside a cinematic frame rather than treating the video as a simple performance clip.

The “Don’t Look Down Tour” begins September 12 in Philadelphia and includes an October 16 stop at Washington, D.C.’s Capital One Arena. FRIDAYY is scheduled as support across the run. That regional date gives Baltimore and DMV listeners a nearby chance to see how a streaming-heavy album translates into an arena production.

PowerPage first placed Rod Wave at the front of its August 28 New Hip-Hop Friday guide when the album arrived. The No. 1 debut is the measurable next chapter: the release did more than lead a crowded Friday—it converted attention into another chart-topping week. Watch the official “Mainstay” video below.
