One of the defining rapper-sneaker collaborations of the early 2000s is headed back to stores. Reebok’s G-Unit G6 will return August 20 in a recreation of the original white, blue and red colorway.
The retro is priced at $130 and is expected through Reebok and select retailers online and in stores. The design keeps the white leather foundation, gray suede toe cap, red-white-blue accents, silver G-6 lace detail, tricolor heel tab and blue G-Unit embroidery that made the original instantly recognizable.
The first G6 arrived in 2003, when 50 Cent’s Get Rich or Die Tryin’ had turned G-Unit into one of the most powerful brands in music. Reebok was building a direct bridge between rap stardom and signature footwear, with the G-Unit line sharing the marketplace with JAY-Z’s S. Carter collection.
That era helped establish a model that feels ordinary now: the artist as a full lifestyle business, extending a musical identity into shoes, apparel and consumer products. The G6 was not simply merchandise attached to an album. It was designed to stand on its own inside sneaker culture while carrying the momentum of a dominant rap movement.
Its return lands inside the continuing Y2K revival, but nostalgia alone will not determine whether it connects. The original audience now has purchasing power and a memory of what the shoe represented. Younger buyers will judge the silhouette against a market crowded with retros and celebrity collaborations.
Reebok’s choice to preserve the original details gives the relaunch a clear position. The G6 is not being redesigned to chase the present. It is returning as a physical piece of hip-hop business history—and asking whether 2003 energy can still move in 2026.
