Ravens Waive Diego Pavia as Quarterback Room Takes Shape

The Ravens have made an early training-camp adjustment to the depth of their quarterback room.

Baltimore waived rookie quarterback Diego Pavia to make roster space for veteran offensive lineman Ethan Pocic. Pavia signed with the Ravens after going undrafted following a highly productive final college season at Vanderbilt.

The decision leaves Lamar Jackson firmly established as the starter, with Tyler Huntley, Skylar Thompson and rookie Joe Fagnano among the remaining quarterbacks competing for roles.

Adding Pocic addresses a different priority.

Veteran offensive-line depth becomes increasingly valuable once training camp begins, when injuries, workload management and competition can quickly alter the position group.

Pavia’s release does not necessarily end his professional opportunity. He can be claimed by another NFL team, become a free agent or explore other leagues if he clears waivers.
