The Ravens-Vikings joint practice opened with Baltimore’s defense setting the sharper tone in Minnesota. During the first of two shared sessions on August 19, 2026, the Ravens repeatedly disrupted the Vikings while Baltimore’s offense worked through heavy pressure from defensive coordinator Brian Flores’ varied blitz packages. The work gave both teams a high-intensity test before their preseason meeting at U.S. Bank Stadium on August 22.
Head coach Jesse Minter praised the defense’s work at the line of scrimmage, its run fits, and its coverage. Cornerback Nate Wiggins was among Baltimore’s most active defenders, breaking up passes intended for Justin Jefferson and Jordan Addison. Marlon Humphrey created pressure on a delayed blitz and added pass breakups, while Aeneas Peebles, Broderick Washington, and Zion Young supplied disruptive snaps up front.
The offense had a more uneven session. Minnesota edge rushers Andrew Van Ginkel and Dallas Turner reached Lamar Jackson for multiple practice sacks, illustrating the difficulty of handling Flores’ pressure menu. Rashod Bateman supplied several of Baltimore’s best offensive moments, and the session still produced useful answers about protection, communication, and how quickly the unit can adjust against unfamiliar personnel.
One significant concern emerged when center Danny Pinter was injured during an 11-on-11 period and left the field on a cart. The Ravens did not immediately provide an update. Jovaughn Gwyn stepped in at center, then helped open a large running lane for Derrick Henry on the next play. That response mattered, but Pinter’s status is now a key item to monitor before the second joint practice.
The official Ravens practice report documented the competitive periods and personnel developments. The first day belonged to the defense, while the offense left with clear corrections to make before the teams meet again.
