Ravens Lose September 20 Home Opener 24–17 to Saints

The Ravens lost their September 20 home opener 24–17 to the New Orleans Saints at M&T Bank Stadium, surrendering a halftime advantage and a late chance to answer. Baltimore and New Orleans both finished the afternoon at 1–1, with the visitors taking control in the closing minutes.

Baltimore led 14–6 at halftime but scored only three points after the break. New Orleans put up 18 in the second half. Rashod Bateman supplied an early highlight with a 22-yard touchdown reception from Lamar Jackson late in the second quarter and finished with a team-leading 88 receiving yards.

The Saints tied the game at 17 after a Chris Olave touchdown and a successful two-point run by Travis Etienne Jr. On the go-ahead possession, Tyler Shough found Juwan Johnson for a 26-yard gain that moved New Orleans close to the goal line. Shough then scored on fourth down with 1:28 remaining.

Baltimore still had one more possession. Julian Blackmon intercepted Jackson to end that response and secure New Orleans’ first win. The Saints’ official recap credited Shough with 252 passing yards and a touchdown on 27 completions in 34 attempts. He also rushed nine times for 23 yards. Olave caught eight passes for 86 yards and a score.

The loss leaves Baltimore with a clear contrast between its two opening games: an emphatic road victory in Week 1 followed by a home game in which the offense could not sustain its first-half scoring. The immediate review will center on finishing possessions and closing out an advantage, rather than simply how quickly the team starts.

Next comes an unusual road assignment. The Ravens’ official recap lists a September 27 matchup with the Dallas Cowboys in Rio de Janeiro, scheduled for 4:25 p.m. Baltimore will take a split record into that game after Sunday’s late reversal at home.
