Pete Alonso’s Two-Homer Day Powers Orioles’ 10–5 Breakout in Texas

The Orioles finally found the offensive response they needed before leaving Texas.

Pete Alonso hit two two-run home runs and reached base five times as Baltimore beat the Rangers 10–5 on Sunday, avoiding a three-game sweep in Arlington. Alonso finished with three hits and four RBIs, while his second homer gave him 25 for the season.

The breakout came after Baltimore scored only one run in each of its previous three games—all losses. On Sunday, the Orioles collected 15 hits and received production throughout the order.

Tyler O’Neill added a two-run homer, Colton Cowser hit a solo shot and Coby Mayo collected three hits. Jackson Holliday, Leody Taveras and Cowser each finished with two hits.

Starter Cade Povich allowed three runs over three innings, but Yaramil Hiraldo followed with two scoreless frames and earned the win. Baltimore led 7–3 after four innings and continued adding insurance instead of asking the bullpen to protect a narrow margin.

One game does not resolve the inconsistency that created the slump, but the shape of the win matters. The Orioles produced extra-base damage, extended innings and received contributions beyond one section of the lineup.

Baltimore now opens a three-game road series in Minnesota on Monday night. The question is whether Sunday’s 10-run showing becomes the start of a steadier offensive stretch or remains an isolated outburst.
