Orioles Twins August 12 Loss Ends With Minnesota’s 7-5 Rally

The Orioles Twins August 12 loss turned an early Baltimore burst into a 7-5 Minnesota comeback, closing the three-game set at Target Field with the Twins taking the series.

Dylan Beavers supplied the loudest Orioles swing with a three-run homer, his third of the season. Jackson Holliday also brought home a run on a fielder’s choice, giving Baltimore enough early offense to pressure Minnesota.

The lead did not hold. Orioles starter Shane Baz lasted three innings and allowed five runs on nine hits, forcing the bullpen to cover six innings and giving the Twins repeated chances to reset the game.

Minnesota moved ahead for good when Alan Roden delivered a go-ahead double. The rally mattered beyond the afternoon: the Twins improved to 60-62 and remained in the American League wild-card conversation while securing their sixth straight home series win.

Leody Taveras hit his seventh homer later in the game, but the solo shot could not erase the deficit. Baltimore finished with five runs, enough to make the game competitive but not enough to overcome the traffic Minnesota created against Baz.

The Orioles Twins August 12 loss is a clean example of why early power and final control are different things. Baltimore generated impact swings, yet the short start changed the shape of the game and left little margin once Minnesota answered. The Orioles next travel to Tampa Bay for a four-game series beginning August 14.
