Orioles Use Three Home Runs and Trevor Rogers’ Nine Strikeouts to Beat Angels

Tyler O’Neill and Coby Mayo went back-to-back before Leody Taveras supplied late insurance in a 5–2 win.

The Orioles found their power Wednesday night, using three home runs and a sharp start from Trevor Rogers to beat the Los Angeles Angels 5–2 at Camden Yards.

Tyler O’Neill opened the scoring with a two-run homer in the fourth inning. Coby Mayo followed immediately with a solo shot—his 15th home run of the season—to give Baltimore a 3–0 lead. The back-to-back sequence supplied the early separation Rogers needed.

Rogers struck out a season-high nine without issuing a walk. He allowed two runs, one earned, on three hits across six-plus innings. His command kept Los Angeles from building sustained pressure, and Baltimore’s bullpen helped complete a combined four-hitter.

The Angels trimmed the margin to one in the seventh, but Leody Taveras answered in the eighth with a pinch-hit two-run homer. Gunnar Henderson scored ahead of him, restoring a three-run cushion before Andrew Kittredge recorded his fifth save.

The game also marked Alex Hoppe’s Orioles debut after Baltimore acquired him from Seattle earlier in the week. Rico Garcia and Yennier Cano joined Hoppe and Kittredge in protecting the lead.

Baltimore has now won four of its last six games and entered Thursday with a chance to sweep the series. For a club adjusting after the trade deadline, the formula was encouraging: young power from Mayo, veteran production from O’Neill and Taveras, and a starter controlling the strike zone.
