Orioles Turn to Kyle Bradish Tonight After a 13-Run Breakout in St. Louis

Orioles turn to Kyle Bradish tonight with a chance to carry Tuesday's biggest offensive outburst into the second game of their series in St. Louis. The right-hander will face the Cardinals at 7:45 p.m. Eastern at Busch Stadium in a matchup televised on MASN.

Bradish enters at 7-12 with a 3.70 ERA and 129 strikeouts. St. Louis counters with Michael McGreevy, who is 5-9 with a 3.54 ERA and 95 strikeouts. The matchup asks Baltimore to prove that its lineup can stay disciplined after scoring 13 runs in the opener rather than chasing the same result with impatient at-bats.

The confirmed order begins with Jackson Holliday at second base, followed by Pete Alonso at designated hitter and Gunnar Henderson at shortstop. Samuel Basallo bats cleanup and starts at first, with Christian Encarnacion-Strand, Dylan Beavers, Leody Taveras, Colton Cowser and Carlos Narváez completing the lineup.

That alignment keeps Baltimore's most dangerous left-right sequence at the top. Alonso went 4-for-4 with a home run and four RBIs in Tuesday's 13-1 win. The Orioles broke the game open with eight runs in the fifth inning, while Chris Bassitt worked 6 2/3 innings and allowed one run with five strikeouts.

Bradish gives the Orioles a different kind of opportunity tonight. When his fastball and two breaking pitches are landing in the same tunnels, he can control a game deep into the middle innings. His July no-hit bid against Kansas City lasted into the seventh and showed the ceiling Baltimore needs as the schedule tightens.

Baltimore enters Wednesday at 64-68, while St. Louis is 66-67. One explosive win did not settle the Orioles' nine-game road trip, but it created a chance to claim a series and build consecutive days of momentum.
