UK Rap Gets Its Own Official Chart and a BBC Radio 1Xtra Countdown
British rap is getting a dedicated weekly ranking. The Official UK Rap Chart will measure eligible rap singles using combined UK sales and streams, with BBC Radio 1Xtra carrying a countdown hosted by Kenny Allstar.
The first radio countdown is scheduled for Friday, November 6th, during Allstar’s 9–11 p.m. UK show. The ranking will also appear every Friday on OfficialCharts.com, according to the Official Charts announcement.
A separate benchmark for the scene
The company positions the chart as a way to follow established rappers and emerging artists within the same genre-specific ranking. For listeners, it creates another place to discover which British rap records are connecting with audiences. For the industry, it supplies a recurring sales-and-streaming measure focused on the scene.
The launch announcement does not name an inaugural No. 1 or publish the first chart. It also does not set out a detailed eligibility rulebook, so the ranking should not be treated as a list of every rap recording consumed in Britain.
Fans can follow the first reveal on November 6th and check the published weekly chart through Official Charts.
