New R&B Friday October 9th, 2026: Dawn Richard, Joyce Wrice and More
New R&B Friday October 9th, 2026 brings seven selections led by Dawn Richard, Joyce Wrice and Jessie Reyez. New albums sit alongside a deluxe addition and standalone singles, with room for contemporary R&B and soul. The list moves from established names into discovery without repeating multiple songs from one lead artist. Dawn Richard — “faith in the fire”
Dawn Richard’s “faith in the fire” closes creole culture, her new 11-song album on Merge Records. We have selected an album cut instead of repeating an advance single. It gives listeners a way into the completed project after our earlier coverage of Richard’s family and New Orleans roots.
Joyce Wrice — “Wish I Knew (feat. Odeal)”
Joyce Wrice welcomes Odeal on “Wish I Knew,” from MACHIKO. The 14-track album is now available, moving the story beyond the interview and album preview covered earlier this week. This collaboration is our entry point into the finished release; the full-song link opens the exact album recording.
Jessie Reyez & Samara Cyn — “FOR SIXXX IN THE MORNIN”
Jessie Reyez and Samara Cyn team up for “FOR SIXXX IN THE MORNIN,” a new single released October 9th through FMLY and Island. Their shared billing adds another partnership to the opening stretch. The standalone release is a direct place to begin before exploring either artist’s broader catalog.
Leven Kali, DESTIN CONRAD & Ambré — “Starlet”
Leven Kali, DESTIN CONRAD and Ambré share “Starlet,” from LK99+ DELUXE. This selection focuses on the expanded release rather than recycling an older track from the original album. The three credited artists give listeners several paths to follow once they have heard the complete recording.
Tanerélle — “MMFSG”
Tanerélle adds “MMFSG,” an October 9th single that Apple Music lists under R&B/Soul. The title is preserved as it appears in the official catalog. It brings another solo voice into a sequence with several guest features, with no album listening required before trying the song.
Johnny Venus — “ON & ON & ON”
Johnny Venus contributes “ON & ON & ON” from THE 11TH HOUR. The new 12-song project arrives through Since The 80s and Epic, with Apple Music placing it in R&B/Soul. This album selection expands the week’s listening beyond the opening headline releases and standalone singles.
ALA.NI & Adrian Younge — “Walk Me To”
ALA.NI and Adrian Younge close the set with “Walk Me To,” from Proud of Me. The official catalog identifies the project as Soul, making it a fit for the broader soul side of this roundup. Follow the complete recording to continue beyond this final preview.
