NBA China Games Bring Mavericks and Rockets to Macao: When to Watch
The NBA China Games arrive this week with Dallas and Houston meeting at The Venetian Arena in Macao. For Baltimore viewers, the first practical detail is the clock: Friday, October 9th, tips at 8 a.m. Eastern, followed by a 6 a.m. Eastern game on Sunday, October 11th. NBA TV is carrying both games.
The Mavericks’ official China Games page lists the local and Central times; the Eastern windows fall early in the day because the games are being played across the world. These are preseason exhibitions at a neutral site, not regular-season results that will count in the standings.
More than two games
The NBA’s event announcement outlines a wider program built around the trip. NBA House, NBA Fan Day, youth clinics, and a community-impact week organized by NBA Cares and Sands Cares accompany the basketball. The community programming focuses on health, wellness, and sustainability.
That combination gives the visit two audiences: viewers watching the teams prepare and people attending the surrounding activities. Houston’s announcement comments also point to the franchise’s longstanding connection with Chinese fans dating to the selection of Yao Ming in 2002. The trip gives that relationship another in-person setting.
How to read preseason basketball
For fans tuning in, lineup combinations and the flow of possessions offer more useful questions than a sweeping verdict from one final score. Which groups create good shots together? How do the teams organize when the first options break down? Exhibition basketball can supply early clues without settling the answers.
Playing time and participation should not be assumed from an event poster. Check the teams’ game-day updates before setting expectations for a particular player. The scheduled matchup is confirmed; individual availability can change.
