Nas will receive BMI's Icon Award at the 2026 BMI R&B/Hip-Hop Awards on Wednesday, August 26, in Los Angeles. The honor recognizes a songwriter whose work has shaped the culture well beyond a single hit cycle, and Nas arrives with more than three decades of records that continue to define how rap storytelling can sound.

BMI says the private ceremony will also salute the songwriters, producers and music publishers behind the year's 35 most-performed R&B and hip-hop songs in its repertoire. The organization will name its Songwriter, Song, Producer and Publisher of the Year, along with its Top Producers, placing the Nas tribute inside a broader look at the people building today's most-played records.
