Morgan State Falls 25–16 at Tennessee State as Four-Game Winning Streak Ends

Morgan State football heads into conference play with a winning streak to rebuild. The Bears lost 25–16 at Tennessee State on Saturday, October 17th, ending a four-game run and dropping to 5–2. Their next assignment is Howard at Hughes Stadium on October 24th at 3 p.m.
Morgan State’s official recap describes a game the Bears briefly controlled after halftime. Cameron Edge found Joseph Towler for a 30-yard touchdown and a 16–15 lead in the third quarter. Tennessee State answered with the final 10 points, leaving Morgan without another score.
The possessions that changed the game
The official box score shows how Tennessee State stretched the contest. An 18-play, 65-yard possession consumed 7:31 and ended with Preston Hurless’ go-ahead field goal. Daylin Lee then connected with Francisco Pratts III for an 11-yard touchdown before the third quarter ended. Neither team scored in the fourth.
Keith Jenkins Jr. provided Morgan’s strongest rushing production, gaining 113 yards on 11 carries with a touchdown. Edge completed 16 of 30 passes for 162 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions. Towler finished with three catches for 56 yards. Morgan converted only two of 11 third downs, making it difficult to keep its offense on the field.
Monday brings recognition before the MEAC opener
There was a positive development on October 19th. Morgan’s weekly awards announcement named Jenkins the MEAC Specialist of the Week and freshman kicker Gavin Fetty the Rookie of the Week. Jenkins added 37 receiving yards and 74 kickoff-return yards to his rushing total, finishing with 224 all-purpose yards.
Those individual contributions give the Bears something to carry into the Howard matchup. Saturday begins their MEAC schedule, so the conference race is still ahead of them. The immediate task is to turn productive individual plays into longer possessions while protecting the football. A home game offers the chance to reset after a difficult road finish.
