Morgan State Delivers a 28–27 Homecoming Thriller on Jenkins’ Late Touchdown

Morgan State gave its Homecoming crowd a finish worth remembering. Keith Jenkins Jr. scored from one yard out with 24 seconds left, and Gavin Fetty’s extra point supplied the difference in a 28–27 victory over Robert Morris at Hughes Stadium on Saturday, October 10th. The Bears improved to 5–1.
A final drive for the Homecoming crowd
According to Morgan State’s recap, the winning possession covered 75 yards in 11 plays after Robert Morris moved ahead 27–21 with 4:16 remaining. Quarterback Cameron Edge helped drive the Bears to the one-yard line with a scramble, leaving Jenkins to finish the possession. The announced attendance was 11,200.
The ending followed a similar late escape against Villanova a week earlier. This time, Morgan had to recover from a 14–0 first-half deficit before it could put itself in position to win. Fetty’s 30-yard field goal at the halftime horn made the score 14–3 and gave the Bears their first points.
The third quarter opens up
Robert Morris’ official account tracks the exchange of big plays after halftime. Fetty added a short field goal before Edge connected with Joseph Towler for a 56-yard touchdown. Robert Morris immediately countered with Carson Haggard’s 54-yard scoring pass to Noah Schaerli.
Jenkins answered with a 45-yard touchdown run, and Morgan converted the two-point attempt to bring the teams level at 21 entering the fourth quarter. The Bears had scored 18 points in the period, transforming a game they had spent much of the first half chasing.
Haggard then found Eyasu Palmore for a nine-yard touchdown to put Robert Morris back in front. Haggard accounted for all four Colonial touchdowns and completed 23 of 30 passes. His team finished with 437 total yards to Morgan’s 369, but could not protect the late lead.
A win secured at the finish
The final touchdown and extra point settled a one-point game in which the Bears had repeatedly needed a response. Jenkins delivered both the long third-quarter run and the short final score, while Edge directed the possession that made the finish possible.
For Morgan State, the result turns a promising Homecoming buildup into another completed victory. The Bears’ next scheduled opponent is Tennessee State on Saturday, October 17th. Saturday’s escape gives them a 5–1 record to carry into that road assignment.
