Master P Revisits No Limit’s Ownership Playbook in New Boardroom Interview

Master P is revisiting the machinery behind No Limit’s rise. In a Boardroom interview published September 24th, the rapper and entrepreneur discusses MP Da Last Don, his approach to distribution and the relationship between creative control and ownership. For Hip-Hop listeners, the conversation offers a business story beyond this week’s release calendar.
Talking with Damien Scott, Master P recalls turning down a proposed $1 million, seven-year company deal. He describes putting $200,000 into a distribution arrangement with Priority that gave No Limit an 85/15 split. Those figures are his account of the negotiations, rather than a newly disclosed contract reviewed by Power1047.
The interview also gets into making the music. Master P describes melody and hooks as priorities when choosing beats, and recalls spending roughly two weeks mastering the album with Donald “XL” Robinson at Bernie Grundman Mastering. He discusses the album and its companion film as parts of the same creative plan.
The useful question for an independent artist is what a partner actually supplies. Distribution, promotion and financing can solve different problems; a large offer alone does not explain which rights an artist keeps or which obligations continue after release. That distinction gives this retrospective relevance beyond nostalgia.
It also invites listeners to hear the record from the other side of the speakers. A song’s hook belongs to the creative conversation, while its path to an audience belongs to the business conversation. Thinking about both together makes an album a more interesting object than a sales milestone by itself.
