Maryland’s early voting period begins Thursday, October 22nd, giving Baltimore-area voters eight days to cast a general-election ballot before Election Day. The Maryland State Board of Elections lists early voting through Thursday, October 29th, with centers open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. each day.

Those hours include Saturday and Sunday. Voters should use an early voting center in the jurisdiction where they live. Baltimore City and Baltimore County are separate jurisdictions, so a convenient address across that boundary is not interchangeable with a center serving your home address.

Where Baltimore voters can go

The state’s general-election center list identifies nine Baltimore City locations. Options include the Southeast Anchor Library at 3601 Eastern Avenue, the Rita Church Recreation Center at 2101 St. Lo Drive, and the University of Maryland Engagement Center at 16 South Poppleton Street. Check the complete official list before leaving, particularly if you usually vote at a different building on Election Day.

Baltimore County has its own early voting locations. The state list includes the Arbutus Recreation Center at 865 Sulphur Spring Road and the Board of Elections at 5 Crossing Way in Owings Mills. The statewide directory provides the remaining centers and addresses for both jurisdictions.

Registration and address changes

Eligible Maryland residents who have not registered can register and vote during early voting. The state says to bring proof of residence, such as a Maryland driver’s license or identification card, an MVA change-of-address card, or a qualifying document showing your name and current address. Listed alternatives include a paycheck, bank statement, utility bill or government document.

Already registered but moved? The state permits address updates during early voting. Party affiliation cannot be changed at an early voting center. Review the state’s early voting guidance for your circumstances rather than assuming every registration change follows the same process.

Election Day is Tuesday, November 3rd. Early voting offers a different location rule from that day’s assigned polling place. Before making a trip, confirm your jurisdiction, choose a center from the general-election list and allow time for travel and any line. The official election-day questions page explains the distinction and other voting options.
