Marvel Studios X-Men Cast Revealed at D23 for 2028 Film

The Marvel Studios X-Men Cast is finally moving from speculation to an official lineup. During Disney’s D23 entertainment showcase, Marvel confirmed the principal actors who will lead the studio’s new theatrical version of the mutant team. The announcement also set a May 5, 2028 release date, giving the film a firm place on the calendar as Marvel develops its first full X-Men feature under the studio banner.

Disney’s official D23 recap confirms Sadie Sink as Jean Grey, Kit Connor as Scott Summers, Christopher Abbott as Professor Charles Xavier, Samara Weaving as Emma Frost, Inde Navarrette as Rogue and Maya Boyd as Storm. Director Jake Schreier joined Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige and Sink onstage before the other cast members were introduced.

Adam Driver appeared by recorded video to announce that he will play Nathaniel Milbury, adding a character name with deep connections to Mister Sinister’s comic-book history. Marvel’s own announcement also identifies the film as untitled for now, which means the studio has shared its core ensemble and release timing while keeping story details, additional casting and the final title under wraps.

The lineup points toward a younger central team anchored by Abbott’s Professor X, but it also leaves several major questions open. Marvel has not explained how this version connects to mutants already seen across its recent films, whether returning actors from earlier X-Men eras will appear, or which comic period will guide the tone. Those choices will shape whether the film functions as a clean restart or a bridge across existing timelines.

The Marvel Studios X-Men cast announcement is the clearest signal yet that the franchise’s next era has entered active public rollout. With Schreier directing and a 2028 date set, casting will now become the first evidence fans use to read the project’s direction.
