Jalen Chords Releases “WYO” Through Cash Money Records

Jalen Chords has released “WYO,” giving R&B listeners a new single from the Hampton, Virginia, singer. The Apple Music listing identifies October 30 as the release date and credits Cash Money Records under an exclusive license to Republic Records, a division of Universal Music Group.
His official release page collects the listening options, including Apple Music, Spotify, YouTube Music and Deezer. The YouTube Music release is presented as a one-song single, with “WYO” running 2 minutes and 51 seconds. The recording below comes through that official release link.
The release arrives as Chords introduces more listeners to a background built around performance. In an interview with Carvd N Stone’s Nyesha Stone, he discussed singing in a choir as a child and receiving encouragement from his mother. He described high school as the period when becoming a music artist felt increasingly unavoidable.
He also traced a path through brass instruments, piano and musical theater. Chords credited choir and theater with helping develop his stage presence, linking those early experiences to the artist he is becoming. The interview offers context for his career without requiring listeners to have followed his earlier releases.
Virginia remains part of that identity. Chords spoke about pride in his hometown and his desire to celebrate Black love through music. He also named the example of established Virginia artists when discussing his own ambitions. Those are his stated aims, rather than a claim about how audiences have received the new record.
The interview previewed “WYO” for an earlier October date; the current Apple Music catalog lists October 30. For the available recording and current service destinations, follow the official release page linked here.
