Esoteric Explains How Czarface Built a World Beyond the Records

Czarface’s expanding world of music, comics, and collectibles began with a personal connection for Esoteric: sharing an enthusiasm for superheroes with his young son. In a September 30th Rap Industry interview, the rapper described the character as a way to connect his creative work with parenting, with artist Lamour Supreme helping bring that vision into focus.

The group unites Esoteric, Inspectah Deck, and producer/DJ 7L. Esoteric’s explanation of their chemistry places technical rhyming alongside production and scratching, while emphasizing that their musical interests have remained consistent. The current conversation is a look at how they work together and maintain an identity across different creative forms.

An earlier account from 7L adds useful perspective. In a 2019 Grown Up Rap interview, he recalled suggesting a small collaborative record after working on “12th Chamber.” What he first imagined as a modest white-label release developed into a larger project as the musicians kept recording and began discussing a name and character.

7L also described a division of attention that helped the idea grow. He focused on samples and musical foundations while Esoteric invested in the comic-book side. The character gave them room to make figures and stories that could exist alongside albums, rather than requiring every visual idea to serve a particular song.

Read together, the two interviews show how collaboration can develop beyond a recording session without losing its musical center. The character gives listeners another route into the work; the records still depend on the distinct contributions of the people making them. That is a creative-process story, with the newer interview supplying the present-day perspective.

For fans who know the name mainly from album covers, Esoteric’s discussion is an invitation to examine the relationship between the images and the music. The full interview explores that relationship in his own words. Follow PowerPage’s Hip-Hop News coverage for more artist conversations and stories behind the work.
