Day26 is building its next album with one of the architects of the group’s original sound.

The five-member R&B group has signed with Grammy-winning producer Bryan-Michael Cox’s creative-content company, Illustrate New Ideas. The agreement reunites Cox with Brian Andrews, Willie Taylor, Robert Curry, Michael McCluney and Qwanell Mosley nearly two decades after his work on the group’s 2008 debut and 2009 follow-up, Forever in a Day.

Cox’s early credits with Day26 include “Since You’ve Been Gone,” “Are We in This Together,” “Exclusive (No Excuses),” “So Good,” “Stadium Music” and “Need That.” That history gives the new partnership a stronger foundation than a standard label signing: the producer already understands how the members’ voices fit together and how the group balances ballads with uptempo records.

The announcement says Day26’s forthcoming studio album will be released through Jive Records. A title, lead single and release date have not yet been disclosed. That distinction is important—new music is confirmed to be in development, but any exact rollout schedule remains unannounced.

For contemporary R&B, the deal arrives at a moment when vocal groups remain underrepresented in the mainstream market. Day26 does not have to recreate 2008 to matter in 2026. The more interesting opportunity is to apply its established harmonies and grown-man perspective to current production without sanding away the chemistry that made the group recognizable.

The deal was initially announced at the end of July and received a fresh Tuesday push from R&B media. YouKnowIGotSoul and The Hype Magazine published the statements and album details; Rated R&B amplified the signing August 4.
