The Box is opening again. “Dark Matter” returns Friday, August 28, on Apple TV, bringing Joel Edgerton and Jennifer Connelly back to a story where every choice can create another life—and another threat. The Dark Matter Season 2 Apple TV premiere arrives after the first season reunited physicist Jason Dessen with the family he crossed realities to recover.

Apple's official description says the Dessens begin the season in a world that finally seems safe. That stability does not last. Jason's obsession with the Box deepens, Daniela's paranoia grows and forces beyond their control push the family back into motion. The new season turns survival into a question of whether returning home actually repaired what the multiverse broke.

The story also widens beyond Jason and Daniela. Amanda, played by Alice Braga, joins Ryan, played by Jimmi Simpson, in an attempt to find a way home. Amanda Brugel's Blair is determined to stop Leighton, while Dayo Okeniyi's character continues pursuing his vision of a perfect world. Those parallel goals give the season more than one version of the same escape plot.

The official trailer makes the danger feel more physical. Corridors collapse into unfamiliar worlds, family members question whether the people beside them are the versions they know, and the Box becomes less like a machine than an addiction. Complete returning faces and practical environments keep the science-fiction scale connected to intimate fear.

Blake Crouch, whose bestselling novel inspired the series, remains an executive producer and writer. Jacquelyn Ben-Zekry, Megan McDonnell and Ihuoma Ofordire are also credited as writers. Apple lists the drama as TV-MA, with Edgerton, Connelly, Braga and Simpson leading the returning cast.

PowerPage's preview of “The Undeclared War” Season 2 follows another thriller using technology to destabilize ordinary life. “Dark Matter” works through physics instead of cyberwar, but its hook is equally personal: when endless options exist, commitment becomes the most dangerous choice. The new season begins streaming tomorrow on Apple TV.
