Cedric Brazle is explaining the creative work behind “Cologne, Vol. 1.” In an October 16th YouKnowIGotSoul interview, the Jacksonville R&B singer connects the project, released October 14th, with personal memories and independent ambition.

Brazle says a two-year break included piano lessons, movement and choreography, and sessions with different producers. His account puts preparation at the center of his return to releasing music.

The title recalls his late grandfather’s cologne and the memories carried by a familiar scent. He wants the music to feel cinematic while allowing listeners to imagine their own scenes.

Brazle also says he and his manager are financing the work. The conversation offers a direct view of an artist pursuing a complete creative identity with a small team.

For listeners, the useful question is how those intentions translate into the experience of a song. Try listening once without looking at the screen, then return to the visuals. Notice which details you supplied yourself, and which were suggested by a setting, a camera angle or a performance. That comparison makes an artist interview a starting point for listening rather than a substitute for it. A useful second pass is to focus on one element at a time: the lead vocal, the background parts, then the accompaniment. You do not need technical training to notice when a pause, a change in texture or a repeated phrase changes your response to the music.

The full conversation is embedded above, with the original interview available at YouKnowIGotSoul. For a separate perspective on musical choices and live instrumentation, revisit PowerPage’s Eric Benét feature. Both are invitations to look beyond a release date and pay attention to the decisions an artist makes along the way.
