BMA Names Four Art Honorees as After Party Tickets Go on Sale

The BMA is bringing Baltimore’s creative legacy into its next major fundraising celebration. In a September 24th announcement, the Baltimore Museum of Art named four honorees for its November 14th Ball and opened ticket sales for a separate After Party featuring recording artist and DJ Ultra Naté.

Joyce J. Scott will receive the museum’s first Lifetime Achievement Award, recognizing a career spanning more than five decades. Elissa Blount Moorhead will receive the Amy Sherald Artist Who Inspires Award. The other honorees are poet and Mellon Foundation president Dr. Elizabeth Alexander, recognized as Changemaker Who Inspires, and painter Julie Mehretu, receiving the Artist Who Inspires Award.

The museum also plans to unveil the Anne and Ben Cone Galleries during the celebration. The new space adds nearly 3,000 square feet and opens with Speaking Across Languages: Global Modernisms in the 20th Century, an installation of approximately 50 works that broadens the geographic story of modern art.
