Baltimore residents and organizations working with young people have a practical opportunity to help shape the city’s future this week. The Baltimore Children & Youth Fund is hosting “Plug In to FY27: Learn, Connect & Shape Baltimore” on Tuesday, October 20th, at Baltimore Unity Hall, 1505 Eutaw Place. The free session begins at 9 a.m., and advance registration is required.

BCYF’s organizer-posted event listing describes an interactive session for nonprofit leaders, youth-development practitioners, young people and community members. Attendance is limited to 50 participants. The aim is to connect people with the fund’s learning opportunities and the Baltimore Youth Master Plan, then help them identify a specific way to participate.

The Youth Master Plan is intended to become a community-driven roadmap for young people across Baltimore. BCYF describes youth leadership, family experience and grassroots knowledge as essential to that work. Its goals include aligning resources and bringing community priorities into decisions about investment and policy, rather than leaving individual organizations to work in isolation.

Tuesday’s session is designed to make involvement more concrete. Participants will explore learning and engagement options, develop a personalized FY27 plan and identify an action they can take within 30 days. The organizer also lists opportunities to connect through community conversations, surveys and collaborative sessions. That gives attendees several possible entry points depending on their role and available time.

The broader plan includes public reports and progress measures covering participation, youth leadership, neighborhood representation and organizational involvement. Those commitments give residents something to follow after a meeting ends: how voices are collected, how priorities develop and what the process produces. The October 20th session is one opportunity to enter that ongoing work.

Use BCYF’s registration form to request a place and review the accessibility questions before attending. The form was available when this article was prepared; remaining capacity can change. Read the Youth Master Plan overview for background, and check the organizer’s event listing for any final updates before traveling to Unity Hall.
